Our home, a casolare which means country house, is in the countryside
adjacent to a protected zone of small farms and trulli. The surroundings
are full of possibilities to discover nature’s wonders. There
are trails for trekking, paths for bike riding or relaxing walks through
the woods and around trulli and maserie (another indigenous type of
large farm house). The hills offer fresh air and stunning views. Several
miles to the east is the Adriatic Sea, specifically the protected nature
reserve of Torre Guaceto.
We have recently restored the house maintaining its original rural aspect
and respecting the surrounding landscape. Dating from the early 20th
century the style of our casolare is part of a lineage from the small
trullo to the yet larger maserie., all part of the rural vernacular
in architecture of this part of Italy.
